Welcome to the Spring Soccer Academy

Welcome to the SWYSC Academy,

We are looking forward to seeing all the kids on the field whether they are returning players or newcomers to the program.  We have had a great turnout and are still working on organizing the groups but here I some general information that will be helpful for you.

Drop off and Pickup:  We would like the kids on the field and ready to go at the start of each session so drop them off 5 minutes before the start time so they can get situated.  If you are a parent/Guardian of a U7 or younger player, we ask that you remain at the fields for the duration of practice.   We will have coaches there before 15 minutes before the start times.  For pickup, please be there a few minutes before the session ends so kids aren’t waiting around.  Coaches will remain until all kids are picked up but please try to be on time.

Practice dates:

The camp will run for 4 consecutive weeks starting on Tuesday, April 13th and finishing on Friday, May 7th.

Times:

Coed U-7 group: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, 4-5pm

All other age groups: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, 5-6:15pm

Location:

South Whidbey Sports Complex.  5598 Langley Rd, Langley, WA 98260

What to Bring:

Kids should come prepared with their soccer gear (shoes & shin guards*) water bottle (use stickers or some other way to identify it as there is no sharing) and appropriate clothing for the weather.  We will be handing out T-shirts on the first day so players may want something they can wear under it in case the weather is chilly.  It is always a good idea to have a bag with some warmer layers available in case the weather changes.  A backpack or gear bag is fine for carrying personal items and bringing a trash bag to cover it is a simple way to keep things dry in case of rain.  Kids may not use their phones during the sessions so have a safe place to put it.

Expectations:

Coaches will work to keep everyone active, engaged and having fun.  Each session will have a particular technique to focus on and the opportunity to apply it in a game type situation.  For the older groups, more team tactics will be incorporated into the sessions.  Fridays will be entirely scrimmages.

Safety:

Although we are moving into Phase 3 for sporting events, masks are still required for practices.  We will clean equipment after each session.  First aid kits will be on site, but please inform the coaches of any particular medical issues they should be aware of and if special equipment (i.e. EpiPen) is needed, please let the coach know where it can be found.
