Registration

Registration for the Fall 08 season is now open. For U11 and above, registration is open through June 30. If you're U10 or below, sign up by that date to get an Early Registration discount. We accept late registrations even after registration is closed, subject to approval by the Registrar and space availability on a team; contact the Registrar directly.

WISL is forming a U10 league for the Fall, and we're strongly considering being part of it as we did for the last couple of Spring seasons. If we do, U10 will be an on-Island travelling league, with games on Saturdays and one or more practices at home during the week. If you register for U10 and we do WISL for the Fall, and you decide you'd rather not, we'll refund your registration as we normally would (see below).

Registration Fees and Refunds

Our registration fee schedule is as follows:

Before June 30 After June 30
U6 - U8 $50 $75
U10 $60 $85
U11 and above $70 $95
Select (District) $150

Multi-Child Discount

There is a discount for registering more than two players in one family: the third child in a family is free, and subsequent children receive a 50% discount.

Refund Policy

If you decide to withdraw your child(ren) for any reason after you have registered, we will refund your registration fee less a $5 refund fee per player. Refund requests must be sent to the club Registrar (see the Contacts page) no later than one week after the first game of a season. If there will not be a team for your child's age group, then a full refund will be made. If you paid by credit card, we will refund your credit card; otherwise, refunds are processed by check.

How to use online Registration

SWYSC now uses an online registration system. We accept payment by credit card online, or you can send us a check, but you no longer need to download forms and fill them out manually. Instead, you use a web browser to provide the information through the Internet. After you've registered, you'll be emailed a copy of your registration form. Please review the information on the form, and if you find something that's not right log back into the system and correct it.

To use the system:

  1. Start by clicking here to open the Registration web page.
  2. Click "Registration” (it’s on the left of the window). You can register to coach, to volunteer for the Club, or to sign up one or more players for the season. If you're signing up for Rec play, click "Rec Fall 2008."  If you're signing up for a District team click "Select (District) Player Registration 2008-2009" instead.
  3. You'll be asked to sign in. Each registering family is assigned an account, with a user ID and a password. If you didn't play in any season since Spring '05, select the option "NO, I do not have a member account" and provide a username and password that you'd like to use.

If you've used the online system before, you already have a member account with a username and password. Select the option "YES, I already have a member account" and type in your username and password. Type these in, paying attention to upper and lower case – it matters. If the system doesn’t recognize you, you can ask it to send your id and password to your email address. If that doesn't work for you (perhaps your email address has changed, too) contact us (swysc@whidbey.com) and let us know. If you'd like to change your username or password, you can do that from your account Home page once you've signed in.
  4. Once you’re in, you can start filling in information. Note the instructions; all titles in bold are required, but others are optional.
  5. If you're paying by credit card, select that option and enter your credit card information.
  6. The system displays a message to the effect that it's processing your registration, and then sends you email with a copy of your registration information.  Please review the information.  If there's something wrong, log back in and correct any errors.
  7. If you're paying by check, please:
  8.  If we don't already have it, please send a copy of the player's birth certificate.

We need to have the signed release, registration fees, and an official copy of your child's birth certificate for him/her to play.

We will be scheduling a walk-in registration before the season starts for those who want help with this process, and we'll announce it on the home page (http://www.swysc.com).

If you'd like to register to coach for the season, or volunteer, go to the Registration page and select "Coaches for Rec Fall 2008" or "General Volunteers ..." as appropriate.

Registration Age Categories

The category you register for is determined by your child's age and gender, as has been the case in the past. The designation "U-6" means "under 6 years old", which means that as of the start of the soccer year (August 1, 2008) the player was not yet 6. Similarly, "U-8" means under 8 years old at that date, and so on. The registration forms check that the birthdate and gender you provide matches the category you're registering for.

We accept registration of players as young as 4 1/2 (by 8/1/08), subject to one or both parents volunteering for the season as coaches or in some other capacity.  Otherwise, players have to be at least 5 (by 8/1/08).

Select the category you're registering for based on the following:

Birthdate Category
8/1/2002 - 2/1/2003 U6
8/1/2000 - 7/31/2002 U8
8/1/1998 - 7/31/2000 U10
8/1/1997 - 7/31/1998 U11
8/1/1996 - 7/31/1997 U12
8/1/1995 - 7/31/1996 U13
8/1/1994 - 7/31/1995 U14
8/1/1993 - 7/31/1994 U15
8/1/1992 - 7/31/1993 U16
8/1/1991 - 7/31/1992 U17
8/1/1990 - 7/31/1991 U18

Sometimes players play above their age category, although we encourage players to play with their age group. If you want us to consider having your child play up, you should register her/him with the category corresponding to her/his age and gender and then contact us by email or phone. If we agree, we'll transfer the player to a team in the appropriate age bracket.

Birth Certificates

If the player is new to the Club, a copy of his or her birth certificate needs to be filed. Please provide this when registering. If you've played with the Club in previous seasons, we should already have a copy on file.

Financial Aid

The South Whidbey Youth Soccer Club has a limited number of scholarships available for children whose parents/guardians have difficulty meeting the demands of the program fees. We would like every child to have the opportunity to participate in soccer. If you would like to be considered for a scholarship, click here for a copy of the application form. (Note: you'll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the form; you can download Reader if you don't already have it from here.)

After you've registered online, please print and fill out the form and mail it to the Registrar (our mailing address is here). The club board reviews scholarship applications at their monthly meetings, so please submit your scholarship requests as soon as you register.

Once the club board has reviewed your application, you will be notified of the decision. If a partial scholarship was granted, you can write a check for the balance at that point. We also ask scholarship recipients to volunteer their time for the club, if possible.
