From the State regarding 2007 Tournaments:

Attached is an updated 2007 State Tournament Eligibility Chart. This new chart reflects which tournament the PDL, CYL and WSYSA Oregon Premier teams may enter. This chart is posted to each of the four (4) State Tournament web pages. It may also be found on the WSYSA forms and publications web page http://www.wsysa.com/Administration/FormsPublications/tabid/103/Default.aspx

The additional tournament updates from the meeting are as follows:

  1. NO TOURNAMENT MEMBERSHIP PASSES! ( I hear your cheers from here) Teams will use their fall league passes for Championships, Challenge and Commissioners’ Cups. If you have a team that did not have league cards you will have the option to print them a pass yourself just as you would your WSPL teams or you may ask the WSYSA office to print them. Please send your decision on printing to Mary Warren and I no later than November 15th
  2. PDL TEAMS- U11’s are eligible for only the Challenge Cup. U12’s and U13’s may choose between the Challenge or Championships Tournaments. It is our hope that the PDL teams that are doing well in the PDL choose the Championships tournament while the teams that may not be doing as well would choose the Challenge but that is just our hope not a WSYSA rule.
  3. CYL Teams- CYL teams may choose between the Commissioners’, Challenge or Championships. Please make sure they clearly understand the different levels of competition in each.
  4. U-11’s – The current online application program was designed a few years ago before the new U11 rule changes limiting roster size and field players. So, even thought the online application has 18 lines for players and gives the option to select 11 aside  please remember – ALL U11’S play 9 aside now and may have only 14 players on their teams. Please review your current applications and make any necessary adjustments to your U11 rosters so they are in compliance with this new rule.
  5. I have also attached the Cup Tied hand-out that we passed out to the State Tournament Representatives at our meeting. You may find this helpful in understanding and explaining the roster freeze dates, transfers, adds and the cup tied polices. This information is also posted to each State Tournament web page.
  6. The Championships Tournament will begin in early February for most all age groups. It may be necessary for an age group or two to start the last weekend in January if we get a large amount of applicants.
  7. The Commissioners’ and Challenge Cups will begin in January.
